Magic Leap’s Technology Solutions and Services (TSS) team is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Business Optimization and Transformation (BOTs) to pioneering operational excellence standards organization-wide.
Job Description
The Senior Manager, BOTs, will serve as a senior-level, strategic business partner who shares ownership of both business strategy and business value results across the enterprise capabilities and major service groups, including but not limited to: Supply Chain Management (SCM)/Procure to Pay (P2P), Demand/Opportunity to Cash (O2C), Hire to Retire (H2R), Record to Report (R2R), Advanced Technology, and Leaper Services. This individual will own leadership-level relationships and serve as a single point of focus, working to converge TSS and the business in our quest to change the way leapers solve problems, ensuring we work on things that matter, and drive operational standards across Magic Leap globally. This role will lead the adoption and programmatic direction in the areas of operational excellence (Lean/Six Sigma), digital transformation capabilities such as Business Process Management (BPM) & Robotic Process Automation (RPA), as well as the framework for execution and implementation of Organizational Change Management (OCM). This role will be responsible for developing and evolving the Magic Leap capability maturity assessment model/tool and will work closely in the execution of the assessment and assist in crafting roadmaps impacting the enterprise and departmental Objectives & Key Results (OKRs). This individual will be passionately focused on finding ways to operate Magic Leap’s business better, faster and cheaper without impacting quality or compliance, all while maintaining a relentless focus on driving impeccable customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Coach business leaders and enable them to articulate their functions wants/needs (i.e. technology, people, process, etc.) that will advance business performance;
- Partner with technology leads to develop and maintain multi-year business capability roadmaps;
- Partner with fellow business partner leadership team members (i.e. Record to Report (R2R), Hire to Retire (H2R), Opportunity to Cash (O2C), etc.) and other business peers to ensure effective business transformation for all initiatives;
- Partner with the project/program/portfolio management organization to ensure a healthy and well-managed initiative portfolio;
- Partner with business leadership to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities;
- Think strategically by identifying business function opportunities and the best-suited position for the function’s adoption within the business partner organization. Measure adoption and work with business leaders to develop future roadmap and opportunities;
- Advise business engagement leads and business leaders to identify and integrate business partners’ long-range plans into business capability roadmaps and priorities, as appropriate. Brief stakeholders on business partner plans and assist in the execution of said plans.
- Develop ideas, including digital awareness, risk assessments, business continuity, and business capability requirements;
- Build and manage the relationship team to ensure convergence and strategic partnering with the business partner team, including working closely with respective executive leadership as executive sponsors for each business partner;
- Advocate for an awareness and focus on business partner strategic plans;
- Correlate business value and priorities to planning activities and goal-setting;
- Ensure that project/program managers of business partner projects are knowledgeable about the business partner and their objectives; engage as a project/program stakeholder, including evaluating project efforts and progress against joint strategic plans and objectives;
- Be creative and innovative with regards to your knowledge and awareness of industry trends and digital advances as they relate to new opportunities and business needs;
- Evaluate joint initiatives as they relate to corporate strategy to ensure convergence and opportunities for measurable success;
- Develop a deep knowledge of the business partner’s business unit and build positive relationship development, both horizontally and vertically;
- Ensure business value realization and optimization, from value plans through consultancy, business case development, financial awareness, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities to add value;
- Educate business partners about processes, roles, and capabilities;
- Establish communication processes and channels across business functions.
Measure and communicate business value realized with the business partner on a periodic basis. - Leading our Six Sigma and Lean training/certification programs, including: ensuring we achieve and maintain adequate Green Belt / Black Belt / Lean Certification Penetration (as a % of total FTE population);
- Serving as Program Advisor to Senior Leaders and hand-selected Black Belt mentors in the certification and project execution efforts for Six Sigma and Lean Certifications;
- Developing and implementing our process standards playbook to align with industry best practices, i.e. International Organization for Standardization (ISO), including:
Developing, implementing, and governing ML’s processes against American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC) framework; - Establishing a process publishing & managing changes framework, driving ease of discovery by the organization;
- Driving alignment of process standards to the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), and more specifically, Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) framework (Standard and Agile);
- Developing and implementing formal Change Management Standards;
- Driving quality assurance standards across the organization;
- Avid contributor to driving the maturity of Magic Leap’s Business Relationship Management (BRM) framework;
- Enabling/supporting of Magic Leap’s Business Process Modeling (BPM) & Robotic Process Automation (RPA) adoption capabilities;
- Serving as an industry thought leader and a contributing member to governing bodies (IIBA, BRMI, APQC, ISO, ASQ, Shingo Institute, etc.);
- Oversee a team of leads, business analysts, developers, and solutions engineers by providing operational guidance, thoughts, leadership, and mentorship in order for them to unleash their super powers;
Qualifications and Experience:
- MBA or related qualification;
- Graduate degree or progressive educational certificate;
- Six Sigma Black Belt certified, with a track record of running organization-wide training and certification programs;
- 15+ years of functional experience in the business function;
- 10+ years of experience facilitating the development and implementation of business initiatives and projects, based on management objectives;
- Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit, as well as with leadership and functional teams;
- Ability to map joint organizational vision and long-term thinking, imagination, and idea generation;
- Experience leading and managing a team of business process engineers, experts and evangelists;
- Expertise in quality management, change management and continuous improvement;
- Experience working at both strategic and tactical levels, with a proven ability to operate at the C-Suite level;
- A team player and self-starter who's able to build bridges across teams and job functions;
