We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated business development professional to join the growing business development team.
The Senior Manager of Business Development will be the face of Wizards to platform partners, digital and retail distribution and technology partners to further Wizards goal to be one of the biggest and most exciting publishers of digital games on the planet. This position reports to the VP Business Development and Strategy. The role will require communication across functional teams and requires an individual who is proactive, not afraid to roll up their sleeves, and is comfortable navigating through an often-ambiguous environment. This position will play a key role in growing Wizard’s PC, Console and Mobile games business. It will be a key strategic resource for our studios as we plan and build out new digital game experiences for Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Duel Masters and future Wizards IP.
What you’ll do:
- Drive the Business – Play a key role at Wizards leading our relationships with first party platforms across console, PC, and mobile gaming including digital and retail product distribution
- Negotiate, close and maintain partnerships with platforms, and digital and retail distribution partners
- Negotiate, close and maintain partnerships with technology partners in partnership with our development partners and publishing team
- Generate and communicate a deep understanding of the digital gaming industry worldwide to assist in identifying business opportunities.
- Work with Legal regarding contract execution
- Financial Planning - Assist with budgeting, financial planning & development and implementation of distribution plans to hit revenue targets, grow the digital distribution business & incremental revenue potential.
What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years pc/console/mobile video game validated experience with a proven record of executing game development and licensing deals
- Strong knowledge of mobile, gaming, apps, social media, digital eco-system, current trends, and key players
- Experience in complex multi-year/title terms with platforms, digital and retail distributors.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing developer and license partnership programs.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact well with colleagues from multiple subject areas; leadership, strategic, and creative thinking skills; and have an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
- Able to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills, deal interpretation and analysis, revenue/profit modeling and ultimate sound business judgment.
- Must be detail oriented with strong interpersonal and presentation skills; must possess a proven ability to multi-task various projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Results driven. Must be able to deliver on revenue/deal targets.
- Solid understanding and demonstrated ability to comprehend and structure sophisticated deals and partnerships
- Familiarity with video game production or software development and have ability to work closely with product development and brand teams.
- Must have a passion for gaming!
- Not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do the tactical work
- BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred
