The Battle.net & Online Products organization is home to 300+ passionate engineers, program managers, and designers focused on technology that powers Blizzard Entertainment’s games. We are on a quest to discover an exceptional leader & strategic thinker who will drive the analytics and strategy for the Battle.net platform. Our ideal candidate is an experienced leader who can help us mature and grow our team of analysts, evolve our platform data culture and capabilities, and drive data-informed decisions across product and commercial teams. The ideal leader will be a relationship builder; one who excels at driving initiatives that cross departments, game-teams, and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Establish and be accountable for clear and measurable analytics team goals, KPIs, OKRs, and SLAs
• Create an analytics framework to align analytics outcomes to the Platform strategic objectives
• Drive key initiatives to mature the data culture of Battle.net, align with key tenants of data governance and strengthen core business intelligence capabilities
• Identify, develop, and grow analytics talent
• Develop and manage towards a data analytics vision for Activision Blizzard’s Platform, Battle.net, and all ancillary products and services
• Be the thought leader for platform analytics at Activision Blizzard, addressing both day-to-day requirements and long-term plans
• Maintain knowledge of current data analytics and industry trends
• Conceptualize, design, and deliver insight-driven analysis to inform and shape business decisions
• Automate and enable self-service offerings to encourage data exploration and insight throughout the organization
• Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to senior leaders on game and platform performance which has been distilled from large datasets
• Partner with data pipeline, global analytics teams, and senior leadership to provide end-to-end player and product lifecycle insights to enhance player experience
• Identify data lifecycle gaps and deliver and/or partner with technology teams to provide solutions
• Understand and clearly articulate how data is captured and how it traverses the many systems within Blizzard to eventually become insight
• Work with Data protection and Legal teams to understand and mitigate player privacy challenges while finding creative solutions to deliver business insight

Requirements

• Proven ability to drive cultural change and deliver impactful results
• Successful record of building and mentoring high-performing analytics teams
• 8+ years of experience solving strategic problems using advanced data analytics and insights
• Exceptional project management & organizational capability (agile, iterative and outcome focused project results)
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, big-data infrastructure (i.e. Google BigQuery, Bigtable, Cloudera, Hadoop), and data analysis and metrics tools (i.e. Tableau, Google Analytics, Looker, Elastisearch, Kibana)
• Expert SQL skills
• Exemplary professional communication and presentation skills
• Deep understanding of the data technology industry, video games industry, and Activision Blizzard’s role in the gaming ecosystem

Preferred

• Experience with Activision Blizzard games and the Battle.net platform as a player
• Advanced degree in analytical field or MBA
• Experience with Machine Learning concepts, languages (python, R) and tools
• Experience with the foundational concepts of Data Governance
