Senior Localization Manager

Dreamhaven is a gaming company on a mission to help improve the games industry both for players and for developers. We are looking for a Senior Localization Manager to help ensure our games content resonates with players around the world - both culturally and linguistically. This role is on our central publishing team, perfectly positioned to help our two internal studios while also engaging with our external partnership studios. As a Senior Localization Manager , you will work closely with internal and external studio leadership to create localization strategies and processes that are the right fit for each studio. You will report to the Director of Operations on the Publishing team, which is composed of central engineering, data, marketing and operations. In addition to creating and maintaining our localization processes, you will search and establish partnerships with localization vendors around the world.

At Dreamhaven, we want each player to feel that our games are crafted with a local sense of understanding of their language and culture, all while maintaining the vision of each studio. If you share this passion of local understanding, reach out–we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll do

  • Establish our localization strategy and processes as part of our central publishing team
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure business requirements for each game and desired territory launches are met
  • Manage content (text, VO, art) localization for publishing services across marketing, communications and web
  • Manage in-game content localization for internal and external development studios
  • Manage the localization QA process externally, and coordinate with studio QA
  • Establish the proper localization pipeline for each product - meeting the unique needs of each partner
  • Source, onboard, and maintain relationships with external localization vendors
  • Advocate for best practices in localization at both the development and publishing levels
  • Support the publishing efforts in each territory by assisting with local compliance
  • Be prepared to grow the team team as our company grows
  • Build or buy amazing tools that increase our quality and speed
  • Contribute to a body of knowledge that strengthens developers’ understanding of localization and cultural requirements

What we need

  • Multilingual - a minimum of two or more spoken and written languages with a full professional proficiency
  • Localization experience - you have launched and serviced at least one multi-platform, multi-territory, live service game.
  • Experience with TM and CMS tools, alongside familiarity with various formats (e.g. .po and XLIFF)
  • Unreal and Unity engine localization experience - in particular I18N and ICU Support
  • Leadership - experience building and running a small team
  • Relationship management - experience building and maintaining external partnerships
  • Technical - you are technically savvy with the ability to quickly understand and learn new tools and software to improve quality and speed of service
  • Self-motivated with experience working independently
  • Consult with development teams, technical teams, and studio leadership

Who you are

  • You love working with different cultures and languages around the world, and are an advocate for each locale
  • You are always learning and applying the latest localization and internationalization trends and technology to improve yourself, your team, and your products
  • You care about the quality of your work and the players you are creating this game for
  • You are results orientated and enjoy creating processes when they increase efficiency
  • You are decisive and are ok with failing
  • You are transparent with your work and comfortable having others involved early
  • You are able to work collaboratively with others, contributing ideas and suggestions that are not solely owned by you
  • You have strong opinions but loosely held, you bring a distinct point of view but are open to being persuaded by others’ ideas just as easily as your own
  • You play video games or are interested in starting (all PC, console, or mobile experience counts!)

The base salary range for this position is $126,465 to $210,774 USD per year, which is associated with our level 4 salary band. The range listed for this position is just one component of Dreamhaven’s total compensation package for team members and exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. Total compensation also includes equity, comprehensive benefits and will also include profit sharing in the future.
