We collaborate with multiple departments to establish our vision, and absolutely light up as we watch it all come together. We are utilizing advanced tools and technologies to shape our vision of building diverse and accessible AAA games.
Timbre’s first Senior Lighting Artist will elevate our current art team by establishing our Lighting pipeline and help set the visual mood for our first magical, high-production quality game. Through a service-oriented and cross-discipline collaboration approach, you’ll identify solutions in Unreal Engine 5 and add that final shine to our stylized project!
As a Senior Lighting Artist at Timbre, you will:
- Creating compelling lighting for stylized environments that set up mood, tells story, and advocates for player experience on an accessible game!
- Dive deep into UE5, setting up our Lighting pipelines and documenting these for current and future Timbreoos
- Partner with our Art Director, Engineering, Rendering and VFX to bring life and depth to our environments and characters
- Collaborate with the Art team to translate conceptual illustrations into mesmerizing real-time lighting visuals, empowering our team throughout the process
- Guide the player experience in partnership with our Game Design and Narrative team, creating visual solutions that evoke emotional in-game experiences
- Work with the Technical Art team to create tools and workflows that streamline the lighting pipeline
- Understand how to get the best out of our content to achieve the overall visual style we’re building and communicate that with our diverse team
- Research the latest industry trends to elevate the visual potential of our project(s)!
What you bring:
- 5 years of experience creating Lighting Art, with a preference of working from prototype to final on a shipped console or PC game
- A portfolio that clearly showcases your ability to set mood and tone in high-quality interactive worlds
- Proficiency in video game development tools, pipelines, and workflows
- A deep knowledge of Unreal Engine
- Excellent understanding of PBR lighting basics, material authoring and shaders. Scripting experience is a plus
- An appreciation and understanding of procedural content generation (PCG), preferably setting up lighting pipelines on a previous project
- A collaborative approach to communication: you are experienced in delivering clear, concise messages that are easily understood by all disciplines, as well as any external partners
