Senior Level Designer [Avatar Project]

Job Description
As a Senior Level Designer you'll be responsible for creating game levels and implementing gameplay situations inline with the creative vision for Pandora and the Avatar universe. You'll drive the game’s vision by building levels and working with others to achieve a consistent understanding throughout all levels built for the game.
Furthermore, you'd be expected to help develop the level design teams by coaching less experienced team members as and when needed.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly prototyping levels within engine (Snowdrop) to test out new ideas, gameplay systems, and modes;
- Iterating on levels throughout the project phases from concept to final;
- Rapidly responding to and iterating on team and player feedback;
- Understanding the high level vision of the game and being able to translate the vision into level design standards that can be used by others to build all of the levels in the game;
- Working with multi-discipline teams to build towards the definition of level design standards for the experience and guide the incorporation of the standards into all other levels with vigilance;
- Helping to build up a local team of level designers that are able to take over a coherent part of the world and realize the vision of the Creative Director / World Director autonomously;
- Working closely with environment art, quest design and systems design teams to ensure game areas meet established art and design goals;
- Developing design documentation for level progression (flow), level layouts and 3D block-outs for in-engine playtesting;
- Mentoring one or more level designers;
- Controling the accessibility, understanding, and level of difficulty of the gameplay areas you are working on;
- Correcting the level design bugs entered into the database by testers;
Qualifications
You as a person have a passion for designing interesting and cleverly challenging cover based layouts for next gen shooters together with Art and Narrative teams. You have very high standards and feel ready to take our World design to the next level and we can see that by looking at your portfolio.
Besides the above we’re looking for someone with experience within the following areas:
- 5+ years’ experience in video action game level design and production or equivalent;
- Been through at least one complete development cycle of a modern AAA product from concept to ship in a level design position;
- Ability to create fun and exciting gameplay using a complex array of mechanics;
- Excellent sense of 3D game space and environmental storytelling;
- Solid knowledge of level design fundamentals as it relates to modern action open-world games;
- Excellent communication and documentation skills;
- Experience with various editors to create levels in AAA environment;
- Ability to work well as part of a team;
- Self-driven with strong focus and attention to details;
