Blackwood Games is a Kyiv-based game development studio with over 100 top experts and more than 8 years of experience in creating world-class games. We are veterans of AAA game development and one of our very first developments now has 65 million players, is translated to 16 languages and is presented on most gaming platforms.
Whatever we do our main focus remains on making this fun and bringing fun and pleasure to the player. And now we are on our way to launching our new yet unannounced game and we are looking for a Senior/Lead VFX Artist to become the driving force behind creation, shaping and direction of our future VFX. Challenges for you
- Collaborate with Art Director, Creative Team, and Engineers to create visual effects that perfectly fit gameplay and environmental storytelling
- Own and define the VFX tools and pipeline, including establishing technical standards, performance, and best practices
- Handle of all aspects of the VFX pipeline from pre-visualization concepts to final polished assets in game
- Concept, propose, and present creative ideas to the team
- Ensure that VFX assets are built efficiently meet performance and memory requirements of the game engine
- Raise the bar with hands on delivery of quality VFX, constantly staying up to date on best practices and the latest next-gen industry standards
- Use your experience and knowledge to lead, mentor and build the VFX team
Your experience and background
- 3+ years of industry experience working within VFX
- Mastery of VFX fundamentals, including particles, shaders, textures, lighting, materials, technical aspects, and game limitations
- Strong practical knowledge of Photoshop, 3D packages (Maya, Houdini, Max, etc.), as well as experience working with real-time particle and VFX editors

- At least 1 published title in your portfolio
- Experience specifically with Unreal Engine
