Stuff We Will Trust You With
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and passionate Senior Artist with a focus on hard surface gear loot creation for the Diablo team. As part of the gear team you will work with concept artists, animators, designers and engineers to create the epic loot and dark fantasy items of the Diablo universe. The ideal candidate understands that game asset work does not end in ZBrush, and can texture, model and optimize just as well as they can sculpt. Additional responsibilities involve giving feedback and critique to our partners and more junior artists on quality bar and pipeline preparation. We hire artists that collaborate well with equally passionate developers and share our love for games.
Responsibilities
- Sculpt and 3D model detailed high-poly models and create efficient low-poly meshes for items, gear and weapons in collaboration with other departments.
- Create high quality textures and author materials
- Ensure that art assets support gameplay and performance
- Give notes and review other work from our internal team and partners for quality bar and compatibility with existing pipelines
- Help develop art best practices and mentor others as needed
Requirements
- 6+ years game development experience, specifically creating real time 3D assets and items using Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
- Exceptional understanding of object craftsmanship, color theory, values, form, shape language and silhouette
- An eye for the visual design of hard surface armor, weapons and crafted objects.
- Strong knowledge of medieval weapon and armor design and construction
- Demonstrated proficiency with current techniques and PBR workflows
- Self-motivated, humble, excellent communications skills, and a legendary team-player attitude
Pluses
- AAA PC or console experience as a 3D character artist
- Solid foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing, illustration and conceptual design
- Proficiency with Substance Designer, Marvelous Designer
- Basic understanding of rigging, animation, and deformation
- Passion for all things games, Blizzard, and Diablo!
