Job Description
Ubisoft Halifax is looking for a new addition to our Programming Team! As a Senior Generalist Programmer, you will be counted on to provide expertise in software design, architecture and best practices on a multi-disciplined programming team! You will work closely with the Project Lead in helping to guide programming decisions and ultimately to deliver the production vision. You will be responsible to help develop high-quality game systems and tools to support those systems.

Main Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and optimize maintainable code in C#.
- Coordinate efforts and provide insights on difficult programming problems across different teams, projects, and tasks!
- Advise a team of programmers on best practices and design patterns.
- Efficiently communicate messages and support decisions from management.
- Help production through estimating task length on typical workflows and development tasks as needed.
- Demonstrate a high level of autonomy in proactively addressing development issues during production.
- Develop, document, test and maintain highly accessible game systems and features in collaboration with other Programmers and Designers.
- Identify risks and provide relevant solutions to complex technical problems.
- Integrate third-party SDK technology within Unity.
- Estimate time to accomplish programming tasks and commit to meeting all objectives as communicated by Technical and Production teams.
- Remain on top of new developments related to important systems and dependencies like third party SDKs and Unity.
- Implement gameplay related functionality including controls, AI, NPC behaviors, camera movement, game physics and game mechanics
- Assist in the setup of project-related CI/CD systems.
- Perform analysis and troubleshoot existing, unfamiliar or legacy code and systems.
- Follow and help enforce processes set forth by production including SCRUM/AGILE methodologies.
- Contribute innovative and original ideas toward all aspects of the game’s production and development.
Qualifications
- A graduate degree in Computer Science, college diploma or demonstrated experience.
- A minimum of 4+ years professional experience in game development with at least 2 shipped titles.
- Highly proficient in creating and developing game mechanics.
- A demonstrated experience in working with graphics, physics, animation, audio, and online systems, with more in-depth knowledge of at least one of these areas.
- An applied of knowledge of using REST APIs from a client perspective.
- A demonstrated understanding and ability to work with modern CI/CD systems.
- A highly advanced understanding of performance sensitive programming (algorithmic and low-level optimizations).
- Proficiency in Math/3D Algebra.
- A solid understanding of the use of animation systems within Unity.
- A track record of advanced object-oriented design skills and proficiency in C# & C++ programming/debugging.
- A demonstrated ability with objective profiling, analysis and optimization skills.
- A visible passion for creating and implementing good architectural solutions, not just writing code!
- A working knowledge of software engineering best practices and common design patterns (e.g. S.O.L.I.D.).
- An ability in working supportively alongside a multi-disciplined team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Bonus Experience
- Excellent knowledge of game programming in Unity for at least one of the current platforms (IOS/Android).
- Experience in cross-platform development.
- Experience in cross-studio development.
- Experience with online/network gameplay systems.
- Familiarity with the iTunes Connect and Android publishing dashboards and certification processes.

Our studio is located in the heart of the city (Halifax) within the historic and iconic Keith's Brewery Market. The Halifax Harbour is in view from our windows and lunch breaks can be spent on the boardwalk or at one of the many restaurants and cafes that populate the downtown core.
