Senior Generalist Designer

Supported by the Design team, the Senior Generalist Designer will create and implement a suite of game design content.
The ideal candidate for this role is self-driven and can translate a thorough understanding of encounter, level, and systems design into engaging player interactions that meet project expectations and deadlines.
In addition to driving the technical obligations of this role, we are seeking an individual that possesses the excellent communication skills necessary to articulate personal creative processes and solicit critical feedback in user experience from partners, community, playtest participants, and team members.
It is imperative that the person in this role is comfortable working alongside Artists, Engineers, and other Designers to implement and polish design content while being able to comfortably express ideas and improvements to the team.
This is a full-time position available to work remotely or based out of our Irvine, CA studio.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex design systems and collaborate cross-functionally to oversee the in-game implementation of related tools and features
- Determine problem areas impacting combat systems, monetization, and technical design and craft swift, creative solutions
- Build comprehensive and engaging elements that apply ergonomic principles and accessibility
- Work with and take guidance from Directors to drive design-centric features from concept to completion
- Standardize, document and advocate for high-quality design fundamentals, continuously improving the workflow process as it relates to the game's interactive elements such as game systems, controls, and interfaces
- Participate in and contribute to cross-functional discussions related to the development and implementation of tools and required game systems adjustments
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the game industry or related area
- A portfolio demonstrating exemplary design experience working in interactive media
- Bachelor's degree in video game design or equivalent work/educational experience
Preferred Skills
- Broad taste in video games and passion for game development
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the game production pipeline
- Familiarity performing basic scripting and encounter design configuration tasks with Unreal 4 or proprietary game engines
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in multiple design tools, such as Figma, Axure, Sketch, Zeplin, Flinto , Proto, etc.
- Keep abreast of the latest design trends, methodologies, and technology
