OVERVIEW
As Senior Gameplay Programmer, you will focus on defining milestones for developing gameplay mechanics and systems, and can expect to work on all aspects of the end-to-end user experience such as system design, networked gameplay, AI or UI. Working with creatives and the wider technical team, you will utilise your experience and passion for developing gameplay, realising the creative ambition for our next title.
WHAT YOU WILL DO/YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will work closely with game designers in the development of systems related to mechanical and game logic, as well as with animators, and other tech disciplines to ensure their constraints are well integrated in the game’s development
- You will be heavily involved with the architecture, design and implementation of gameplay code, following the game design intentions
- You will own the prototyping of gameplay mechanics and explore creative ideas with an absolute focus on quality, player experience and making the most of PlayStation hardware.
- You will lead on the design and development of wider gameplay systems and implementing game content.
- You will troubleshoot gameplay related issues throughout the team.
- You will continuously strive to deliver a highly entertaining interactive, cutting edge experiences.
- You will proactively and methodically improve quality, efficiency and best practice in the team - innovate your tools and techniques to achieve the best gameplay quality possible
WHO YOU ARE/YOUR EXPERIENCE
- You have videogame programming experience in developing gameplay features and systems, including having worked on at least one shipped AAA title in a senior role from concept to delivery.
- You have solid understanding of all areas of gameplay mechanics. With an in-depth knowledge of character based gameplay and game development experience
- You have strong experience of game prototyping and rapid iteration on creative ideas.
- You have owned a small focused work group while interfacing with a large multi-discipline team, you should have excellent communication skills, approachability, passion and aptitude for practical gameplay development.
- You have excellent C++ programming skills. Proficiency in maths and 3D geometry. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You have robust software engineering and software architecture principles. Experience of working with and interfacing to a large codebase, including systems such as: graphics, physics, animation, audio, and networking.
