PUBG Studios’ Madison, WI office is seeking a Senior Gameplay Programmer to develop new and innovative gameplay on the PUBG engineering team. We are a small, multi-disciplinary team pioneering maps, modes, and experiences for PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.
As a Senior Gameplay Programmer you will contribute to the success of PUBG and new titles by developing core gameplay systems. Gameplay engineer’s are given a large amount of autonomy in feature ownership, and are expected to collaborate with Design, Animation, Production, and Art stakeholders in order to bring the CD’s vision to life. Continuously create, improve, and optimize systems in an iterative environment. This position reports to the Technical Director or Lead Engineer.
What you will do:
- Architect gameplay systems that are pragmatic, performant, and fun
- Work with the Technical Director to develop strategies and process to support engineering initiatives
- Collaborate with other development units in a distributed studio environment
- Mentor junior team members to encourage professional growth
- Develop in both a native C++ and UE4 Blueprints
A typical day may include:
- Attend a cross-discipline stand-up with designers and artists working on the features
- Estimate effort for change requests or bug fixes
- Code and test as part of development
- A studio-wide play test
- Review code changes from other engineers
- Discuss ideas, improvements, or issues with other engineers, designers, and artists
- Provide support to other engineers via paired programming
Qualifications:
- Bring a passion for games and gaming
- Demonstrable experience writing gameplay code in a AAA development environment
- An emphasis on creating core gameplay systems with expertise in one of the following areas (preferred): AI, Animation, Multiplayer, Physics, UI, etc
- An ability to push features forward in a collaborative and iterative way
- Excellent knowledge of C++
- Strong 3d math skills
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with client and server-side networking
