Senior Gameplay Engineer

This is a fully remote position for eligible candidates currently based in most of the United States and Canada
PerBlue is looking for our next great Senior Gameplay Engineer to join our team of experienced developers and game designers. We’re a growing independent studio whose free-to-play midcore mobile games are being played by millions of people around the world, including the award-winning Disney Heroes: Battle Mode .
Our team brings together experience from major studios in the videogame and technology industries. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, we also work remotely around the United States for an unmatched quality of life and work.
We’ll work together to create amazing experiences for our fans across the world. Developing primarily in C# and Unity, you'll work on architecting reliable and performant gameplay systems, leading junior engineers by your example. Your quest will be to support our fans in a great gameplay experience while optimizing for the constraints of mobile games.
What you'll do
Your responsibilities encompass both gameplay and graphics. This includes everything from implementing character behaviors to optimizing shaders. You will be responsible for designing and building performant gameplay systems and game features.
You’ll work closely with other developers and designers to meet the demands of the fast paced mobile games industry. B uilding art integration pipeline tooling and infrastructure, you'll bring our designers' specs to life in the game engine.
You’ll both plan and streamline key pieces of our game architecture, along with coding elegant and efficient solutions to ambitious visual and gameplay designs. Your knowledge of major industry trends and best-practices will support high-quality gameplay experiences within the constraints of the mobile gaming infrastructure.
What you've done
- 5+ years of professional hands-on coding experience in working team environment
- 3+ years experience at a games studio (mobile, console, or PC), working on commercially successful shipping products
- Deep experience with the Unity engine and C#
- Experience with building art integration pipeline tooling and infrastructure, implementing game design spec such as character behaviors, and graphics work such as optimizing shaders
- Experience with mentoring engineers

Other Preferred Skills and Experience
- Mastery of 3D and 2D rendering principles
- Experience writing shaders (GLSL/HLSL/Cg)
- Mobile development experience (Android, iOS)
- Jenkins/CI/CD experience
- Experience with Entity Component Systems

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $110,000 USD + bonus. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position across all locations nationwide.
