Forward Game Studios is expanding our development team to create cutting-edge video games for next gen consoles, PC, and VR headsets. Founded in 2016, you will be joining a veteran team of software engineers, designers, artists and other senior leadership with decades of experience who have shipped some of the bestselling titles in history including games in the DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, RAGE, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead series.
COVID-19 Update: Forward Game Studios is based in Dallas, Texas, and we have transitioned to a mostly work-from-home model during this time. We are always eager to bring more people into the thriving Dallas game development scene, and Dallas is the preferred location for this position. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Forward Games Studios is seeking a talented Senior Game Designer to join our team of veteran developers. We’re looking for a person that understands what it takes to make a game feel good to play; the way a weapon fires, its impact on targets, the movement and attacks of enemies, and what keeps players wanting to push further into exploring and mastering a game.
In this role, you will help design weapons, enemy AI, progression systems, combat mechanics, and game modes for a new first person co-op action game. You will work closely with the Design Director and fellow Designers to help plan, prototype, and build systems for an expandable game that will keep players entertained for years to come.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the Design Director and Design Team to execute on the vision for the game
- Draw on your experience and creativity to execute on design goals and solve design challenges
- Create detailed and easy to follow design documentation
- Participate in brainstorm sessions, refine, and execute on ideas within a schedule
- Craft and execute on game features from prototype to shipping quality
REQUIREMENTS
- In-depth knowledge of first or third person action games
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross disciplinary groups
- Ability to work proactively as part of a team
- Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a design capacity on PC or console games
- At least one shipped game in the first or third person action genre

- Experience designing for cooperative gameplay
- Experience working on a live services game
- Experience working with the Unreal Engine 4 editor
