Senior Game Designer - Wild Rift, Events

As a Game Designer, you will design and improve the player experience. Your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity help craft in- and out-of-game experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to iterate on player-focused designs that will delight players around the world.

As a Game Designer on the Events team, you’ll report directly to the production lead in our Shanghai office creating fun and innovative game events and systems and/or content which drive player engagement and create memorable experiences.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse team of developers to build new content and features for Wild Rift to deliver on Riot's strategic goals
• Represent the player experience and key player needs in team discussions
• Design, develop, and oversee event experiences which span days or weeks
• Design and implement event missions and rewards which keep the player engaged
• Work with product to plan new event opportunities based on feedback and learning from shipped events

Required Qualifications

• You deeply understand and communicate player needs, especially around deep strategy experience, player decision making, and creating exciting spectator experiences.
• You can apply and execute an analytical approach to design. You identify what creates interesting gameplay, what’s appealing to players and why things work. You’re able to translate lessons from one genre to another.
• You’re capable of identifying a problem, generating a range of solutions to it, and identifying the most appropriate one. You’re then able to create and communicate the details of that proposed solution.
• You are exemplary at sharing and seeking feedback

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of mobile markets
• Experience designing for the mobile and/or PC markets
• Experience with or expressed understanding of event structure
• Experience with or expressed understanding of mission design in competitive games
• Strong understanding of current gaming tastes and trends in the global market
• You can clearly articulate the goals of your project to both designers and non-designers, along with the rationale behind how you execute on those goals
• Your work is internally coherent, thematic where appropriate and trades off different values against each other as needed to accomplish team goals
• (Bonus) Bilingual Mandarin Chinese/English
