SUMMARY OF POSITION

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial-minded game designer to join our newest project Storyloom - the next generation of interactive storytelling platform built upon our successful track records in mobile gaming. This platform’s vision is to empower professional, semi-professional and aspiring writers, creators and artists globally to create exciting stories together that can entertain readers of all ages and backgrounds while benefiting from their creative and hard work. We are well positioned to bring exciting gamification and innovation to book, graphic novels, comics and manga industries! Some of the coolest ideas could come from you!
Our headquarters are in Los Altos, CA but we can accommodate a remote work environment for a candidate from the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
Currently, all Pixelberry staff work remotely with the option to work in-office, if desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, design and document various monetization and game economy elements, live operation strategies and live experiences
- Build a progression and economy system based on virtual currencies, virtual goods and services
- Craft experiences that are enjoyable to multiple player personas, while monetizing on specific segments, balancing easy-to-engage for new users and deep-to-enjoy for core users
- Balance the overall supply and demand in the economy by monitoring various virtual currencies rewards and designing new mechanisms of consumption
- Write one-pagers for economy elements that demonstrate a clear understanding of business objectives, consumer journeys and measurable outcomes. Create required documentation to guide design, product development, and QA processes
- Drive multiple projects with cross-functional colleagues using iterative development
methodologies and A/B testing best practices - Define, monitor and measure game metrics and KPIs, organize regular reviews with
cross functional teams and come up with continuous improvement plans - Develop and maintain economy design documentation and tools
- Play competing and upcoming platform games, analyze their design models and identify
ways to improve our products
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in free-to-play games industry, including 2+ years of experience as an economy designer in free-to-play games
- Structured and data driven approach in problem solving and critical thinking, experience in modeling gaming problems using quantitative tools, and formulating key levers in a game to identify weaknesses and strengths in its economy design
- Entrepreneurial spirit - a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, deals with ambiguity, and motivates cross-functional teams even without authority
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels
- Knowledge of the free-to-play market, top performers, best practices, and common systems across genres
- BA / BS or equivalent industry experience, Masters/MBA preferred
BONUS REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with game monetization and/or economy design, live service design, and/or systems design
- Hands-on experience in A/B testing tools such as Optimizely, CleverTap/LeanPalm etc.
- Experience in user testing, UX design and/or consumer research
- Experience in (and love for) narrative or interactive fiction games
- Passionate about reading and/or writing stories/comics/manga

Compensation Description for Pay Transparency (annually)
Salary range:$141,294 - $176,618 per year.
Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. Where an individual’s pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
