Senior Experiential/Games Designer
Are you a creative wizard that loves working with children to create, develop and build exciting and enchanting play experiences for both physical and digital? We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile senior experiential designer with a wealth of knowledge and experience creating play experiences and games that capture the imagination of young minds - worlds designed by kids, for kids, that they return to time after time. This will be a project working on a permanent retail installation which features strategic touch-points of prioritising play for children within the retail store. Think leading children on a fantasy journey through the store mixing the physical and digital throughout. You’ll be part of the core team, defining and leading the discovery phases, working closely with UX Designers, Visual artists, 3D artists, Motion Designers and Creative Technologists to develop multiple play scenarios that connect both physical and digital worlds. This project will require a high level of client stakeholder engagement and interaction, so clear communication skills are critical.
Experience working closely with game programmers to implement your designs is a must, as well as familiarity with Unity and VR/AR.
Tenure
Start 26th April until end of August (14 week project) with a view to extending if the project expands
Location
This role is expected to be a mix of remote and Malmo based as we build physically in the studio so commutable distance to Malmo is a must.
Key Skills
Design & Requirements
- Strong experiential designer with a conceptual focus for physical / digital installations.
- Comfortable coming up with and exploring conceptual ideas
- Experienced in user research and concept testing, particularly with children
- Confident working in Figma
- Organised and self-motivated and comfortable working in a cross-functional team
- Visualising and prototyping concepts to varying levels of fidelity to demonstrate and validate ideas
- Familiarity with Unity and VR/AR
Working practices
- Experience working with an Agile process
- Working with and helping to lead a cross discipline team of UX Designers, Visual artists, 3D artists, Motion Designers and Creative Technologists to ensure delivery of high-quality products on time and on budget
- Understand and where appropriate challenge business requirements to champion user needs in accordance with product and market strategy
- Maintain awareness and mitigation of project risk
- Engage clients and stakeholders in design solutions that fit their needs
- Understand clients’ design needs and work within those constraints
- Communicate design specifications with other designers and developers; validate and monitor quality output
- Clearly present various stages of interface design development, concepts and ideas to business owners, team members and stakeholders of all levels
- The ability to deal with pressure and can work in a fast-paced environment
