In this role you will be part of the Project Rene team building out the next generation of games and creative platforms. Project Rene is a Mobile + HD cross-platform title that allows players to experience The Sims alone or with friends, without barriers, for the first time ever. Explore the dramatic lives of your Sims in the most accessible, dynamic Simulation to date. Players can create characters, customize furniture, design apartments, and more using accessible tools.
You will be reporting to the Development Director.
Location: Remote North America - open to most North America locations
As a Senior Experience Designer with Maxis, you will partner with XD Director, UI Lead, and Creative Director to inform overall product vision through the end-to-end visualization of the game.
Responsibilities
- Document and maintain the UI systems throughout product development.
- Develop a modular, responsive UI system in Unreal that works on all platforms (mobile, tablet, PC, or Console)
- Maintain and expand the UI Style guide through iterative development and collaboration.
- Produce the game's visual design system that includes iconography, typography, visual hierarchy, brand expression and motion.
- Lead R&D and innovation for UI design, UI motion, and UI VFX.
- Partner with XD team to author and co-own the design pattern library and component library.
- Deliver high fidelity and high-quality UI screens that align with the product's experience goals, usability and accessibility standards.
- Design and implement UI elements, icons etc. into the dev prototypes in Unreal.
- Collaborate with the other Experience Designers to gather requirements, explore creative directions, produce prototypes and iterate based on testing results.
- Partner with project leadership to set priorities and recommend design solutions that balance player and business goals within technical constraints.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years experience in mid-to-large size teams designing UI systems that are intuitive and engaging while balancing player, business and technical goals.
- Experience understanding and systems level work.
- Experience designing with players' motivations and needs in mind.
- Analyze and translate player feedback into meaningful improvements to the UI.
- Strong visual design skills (i.e., composition, iconography, layout, typography, and color theory)
- Motion graphics skills, the ability to bring interfaces to life, with usability in mind.
- Comfortable presenting cohesive design solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience designing a cross platform UI system is a giant plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $113,300 - $171,700 USD Annually
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $111,500 - $171,700 USD Annually
• Jersey City, NJ :
º $126,700 - $171,700 USD Annually
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $111,500 - $144,000 USD Annually
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $111,500 - $157,300 USD Annually
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $93,700 - $143,700 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
