Senior Environment Artist
The goal at XR Games is to be the best developer of VR titles in the world.
Due to the success and critical acclaim of our previous projects such as Zombieland: Headshot Fever and Angry Birds Under Pressure our team is now working on numerous major projects with recognisable IP’s throughout 2022 and 2023.
Having won ‘Best small studio’ at the 2021 TIGA awards our team is growing in all areas of game development as we transition from a small start-up studio to an established multi-disciplined games studio specialising in full-scale immersive extended reality games. Led by a team with big game experience at studios such as Rockstar, EA, Codemasters, Playground, Dubit and Sumo we have created games for some of the world’s biggest brands such as Sony, Rovio, Dreamworks and Lego.
The Role:
We’re now looking for experienced environment/level artists who can be part of one of our biggest upcoming projects.
What you will do:
- Create, compose, light and implement diverse environments, from manmade structures to terrain and nature, to the highest standard.
- Work closely with the Art Director to ensure visual standards, technical requirements and best practices are maintained.
- Mentor and guide other Artists and provide regular feedback.
Are you a fit?
The right person for this role will already be in a senior or lead position with at least one shipped title to their name across a full development cycle. You will likely have 5+ years of games studio experience and will be able to showcase a portfolio of projects. Your portfolio will show entire environments rather than just standalone assets/props. Demonstrating solid knowledge of techniques to author complicated terrain is highly desirable.
What we need you to have:
- High proficiency in industry standard software such as 3DS Max/Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer etc - and the ability to quickly learn new tools as appropriate.
- Proven ability to work across different visual styles.
- Great attention to detail and aesthetics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas visually as well as verbally.
- Be highly motivated and pro-active.
Our studio is based in Leeds with a hybrid-working setup as standard. Our preference will always be to have people based in the office for part of the week, this will aid with your personal development as well as fully ingraining you within our team’s culture and fun activities. However we do accommodate fully remote team members if we need to and will assist financially with relocation for those looking to do so.
Apply today to speak to our team and be a part of our journey!
