The Position
Avalanche Studios Group is hiring a Senior Engine Programmer for our central technology organisation in Liverpool. Central Tech is our core technology team and we innovate in areas that push the boundaries for what open world sandbox gaming means as well as improve, optimize and support our existing core technology. As an engine programmer you will be responsible for continuously improving our open-world engine Apex and ensure that our production teams in Liverpool, Malmö, New York and Stockholm can leverage the full potential of the shared technology.

The award-winning Apex engine is a highly advanced and complex set of software upon which we build the world's best open-world games. We have a solid reputation for producing fantastic looking open-world games and this is a great opportunity if you want to play an instrumental role in developing our engine. You will be a part of a team, responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a diverse range of core engine technologies, to support our active game development. Working with everything from higher level frameworks for diagnostics and testing, to low level streaming, threading, memory management and platform specific features.

As a person you are a team player with a strong desire to gain insight into the realities of the day-to-day work and challenges for the game production teams. You are pragmatic and results-oriented with the ability to quickly absorb new information and transform it into creative solutions. You also have a sense of urgency and ability to cope with short lead-times. In performing this role you will be able to make a great impact on the value realized from the studios shared technology throughout the game productions.
