We are Mythical Games. A Venture-backed next-generation game technology company at the intersection of video games and economics led by industry veterans. Our goal is to lead the industry with the launch of exceptional video game experiences that leverage distributed ledger technology, while also providing a platform of robust tools that will allow any other game developers to do the same.
We are currently looking for a talented Senior Economist to join our growing team here at Mythical Games. In this role, you will support the game economy across supply, primary b2c marketplace, and secondary c2c marketplace. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers and Game Designers to help tackle complex economic requirements related to liquidity, scarcity, marketplace optimization, pricing, market making, and monetization.
We are looking for someone with a passion for exploring exciting new frontiers where blockchain and games intersect to create new game economies and ways for players to transact both in and out of the game.
This role is on the Marketplace Services team and can be based out of Seattle or Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
- Designing the dynamic models that will take real-time and delayed marketplace inputs to produce and drive decisions around resource allocation, supply and demand decisions, and pricing controls.
- Design and implement new features and machine-learned models, including the application of state-of-art models in support of buying, pricing and inventory placement, and selection.
- Work closely with Product Managers and Game Designers to expand the depth of our economic insights with data, create a variety of experiments, and determine the highest-impact opportunities to include in planning roadmaps.
- Communicating effectively with senior management as well as with colleagues from design, engineering, and business backgrounds.
- Build and validate prototypes to demonstrate the benefits of proposed changes to the decision systems and operations.
Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Management Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in analytics
- Track record in performing high-quality analysis of big data
- Track record of driving change based on persuasive communication of insights based on the analysis.
- Experience incubating new analytic approaches working closely with engineering, game teams, and product managers from conception through to implementation.
- Written and verbal communication skills to convey complicated processes and systems to business partners and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in R, Python and/or Spark
Preferred Qualifications
- Applicants with considerably more experience than the basic qualifications
- Experience with blockchain and token economics a plus.
- Experience in pricing-related analytics
- Strong research track record
