Senior Distributed Systems Engineer

CCP is looking for a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer who wants to put more internet in internet spaceships!

As a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer on the Services Team, you’ll be helping us take our AAA rated MMO Eve Online to the next level by shepherding the evolution of our domain services ecosystem called Quasar. Evolving our Quasar ecosystem means CCP will be empowered to develop backend solutions more efficiently which means we can get new features to our beloved Eve players more quickly. You’ll be owning technical projects with our team here in Reykjavik, Iceland and solving super juicy system design challenges related to Quasar and the backend services supported by it. Your Profile:

• Is excellent at and enjoys solving technically complex challenges
• Views their software as a craft and prioritizes quality of code over quantity
• Believes untested code is the devil
• Has at least 5 years of experience in a professional software development role
• Has experience leading mid to large sized projects
• Has experience working on large scale distributed systems
• Can work collaboratively on a team e.g. exploring problem and solution spaces together

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with Golang (it’s the main programming language we use for our ecosystem)
• Experience with any of the following: AWS, kube, terraform, gRPC, protobuf, RabbitMQ, NATS, Sentry, Grafana, Prometheus, Honeycomb (all related to Quasar)
• An affinity for gaming or writing software for games
