Jam City Toronto is looking for an experienced Senior Development Director who will manage game development and report to the General Manager. We are looking for someone who has a track record and passion for developing, launching, and live-operating multiple games. The Senior Development Director will manage the Production team, QA team and a Development team, anchoring communication across the development team, manage workflow-considerations and risks, proactively identify process issues and best-practices, and help the project hit its development and product goals. The focus of the role is on ensuring world-class development practices, team efficiency, and team cohesion.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make sure that we regularly capture, review, and act on learnings to continuously improve our culture and processes.
- Work on assisting with scaling out the Development team which includes Producers, Client and Backend developers, and QA.
- Working on ancillary development solutions such as working vendors, services, or multiple development studios to achieve results.
- Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with key vendors to enable effective collaboration and issue resolution.
- Lead the team in driving project scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, prioritization, task tracking, and problem solving to achieve results.
- Accountable for making sure best practices are consistently followed across all game teams. This means, production methodologies, release management, sprint structures, planning and estimation, tool usage, reports on team velocity, risk communication.
- Communicate with Game Directors and Lead PMs, providing an escalation path for timelines and risk.
- Act as a second set of eyes on all games to ensure Producers are hitting date commitments and all game teams achieve a high level of predictability.
- Enforce consistency with how teams present schedules and risks to the executive teams.
- Work with the Game Directors, Lead PMs, and GMs to flex production staffing according to needs across all game teams.
- Vet all production plans for games in development.
- Provide coaching, career development, and growth opportunities for producers and tech staff.
- Work with the People Team and Recruitment team on hiring.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of production experience on game development projects.
- 3+ years experience as a Development Director.
- Experience shipping successful games in a producer role.
- Experience managing both developers and producers.
- Mastery in scaling multiple teams across separate projects.
- Track record of managing vendors and separate studios.
- Experienced in determining task dependencies, priorities, and assignments.
- Evaluate development risks and create mitigation and contingency plans.
- Understand mobile game application market and business models.
- Expertise using production tools and multimedia software applications.
- Excellent conceptual and technical writing skills.
- Change management, and conflict resolution skills.
- High degree of initiative, takes opportunities to make improvements.
- Responsible for and, invested in outcomes.
