We are looking for someone like you to become our all-new Senior DevOps Engineer and join our passionate and talented Web team, where we are building on the years of success that Rebellion has enjoyed.

Senior DevOps Engineer role:

The Senior DevOps Engineer is a new role dedicated to implementing robust build and deployment processes and proposing and overseeing improvements to existing systems. You will improve and increase the quality and level of automated build, test and deployment processes within the team and implement containerisation across our deployments. You will also expand, improve and maintain the existing GitLab CI/CD setup. As part of the Web team, you will play a key role in implementing effective monitoring processes and ensuring the highest possible availability of live systems under your remit.

This role would suit an experienced DevOps Engineer who has implemented and developed robust testing and deployment processes and previously implemented containerisation. You will be able to work with developer specifications and show initiative in suggesting and implementing improvements to existing setups.

The Rebellion Web team is responsible for the development, updating and maintenance of all the public facing marketing and ecommerce websites of the company.

Responsibilities

• Expand, improve and maintain the existing GitLab CI/CD setup
• Improve and increase the quality and level of automated building, testing and deployment
• Actively participate in architecture development, planning and build for new projects
• Ensure the highest possible availability of live systems under your remit, including willingness to work out-of-hours when required
• Maintain comprehensive site and system level monitoring coverage across all hosted services
• Analyse, review, implement, and enforce network, data and communication security standards
• Implement and ensure the company backup retention policy for web team data in partnership with the IT department
• Work to project deadlines and pro-actively communicate actual and potential issues and progress blockers
• Support colleagues in any ad hoc tasks and duties
• Mentor other team members
• Apply robust problem solving and time management approaches
• Foster a positive team culture

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Professional experience with and good understanding of containerised applications and deployments (docker, kubernetes)

• Modern CI/CD experience (Gitlab CI desirable)
• Experience deploying and configuring PHP applications in multiple running environments
• Proficient with current cloud technologies and infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean)
• Proficient linux use with server administration experience (Debian familiarity desirable)
• Version control management experience (Gitlab desirable)
• Previous experience of managing domains, SSL, DNS, firewalls and routing in a commercial public facing web environment
• Strong scripting ability (Bash and PHP desirable)
