Role Overview:
We are recruiting a Senior DevOps Engineer for the Rebellion Group. Based in our studio in Oxford, you will be an essential part of the Web team. The successful applicant will have considerable experience in a DevOps role and be passionate about robust testing and deployment processes. You will be able to work with developer specifications and show initiative in suggesting and implementing improvements to existing setups.

What you'll be doing:
- Expand, improve and maintain the existing CI/CD setup
- Improve and increase the level of automated building, testing and deployment processes
- Actively participate in architecture development, planning and build for new projects
- Pro-active communication of technical problems and issues
- Ensure the highest possible availability of live systems under your remit, including willingness to work out-of-hours in urgent circumstances
- Maintain comprehensive site and system level monitoring coverage across all hosted services
- Implement and enforce company security standards
Requirements
- Experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean)
- Modern CI/CD experience (gitlab-runner experience desirable)
- Experience with deploying and configuring PHP applications in multiple running environments
- Experience and good understanding of deploying and updating containerised applications (docker, kubernetes)
- Significant linux server administration experience (Debian familiarity desirable)
- Version control management experience (gitlab experience desirable)
- Previous experience of managing Domain registration, DNS, SSL, firewalls and routing in a commercial public facing web environment
- Strong ability in scripting (Bash and PHP desirable)
- Experience with nginx, php-fpm, mysql/mariadb (memcache, redis, beanstalk, elastic also desirable)
- Good problem solving skills
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to work well with individuals and teams
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (such as Xen, VirtualBox, Vagrant)
- Experience with nginx, php-fpm, mysql/mariadb (memcache, redis, beanstalk, elastic also desirable)
- Previous experience of configuration management and remote execution software (such as Salt, Chef, Puppet)
- Experience with maintaining Java applications, in particular ELK
- Previous experience of using and implementing infrastructure monitoring tools (in particular, New Relic and APM)
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
