Senior Designer
Description
As a senior designer at Squanch Games, you are in charge of making the translation of design concepts into high quality game execution. You love thinking about how to bring great character-driven narrative and content to life. Building a world experience is extremely important to you and you have great ideas on how to make this even more impactful and funny.
At Squanch Games, we make stuff that people love; Games that we want to play ourselves. We make experiences that we would like to be totally immersed in and enjoy for hours at a time, as well as shorter, crazier experiences that would be great to play with a group of friends or possibly with stray homeless people that you invited in so you could feed and bathe them.
If you share in these values, come join us!
You are:
- An experienced content creator with several years of experience: You've worked in a design role focused on level content experiences and/or scripting interactive narrative scenes and you've shipped a title or two.
- A problem solver: You have an indie spirit that inspires you to be creative and willing to go above and beyond your role to find solutions.
- Curious and passionate: You read and/or play games most days.
- Collaborative and humble: You know that the best work comes from a team who trusts and respects each other. You strive to collaborate with others and don’t care whose ideas win. Best ideas win.
- Tech-friendly: Regardless of whether your tech background includes programming, scripting, or working in engine editors, we need folks who are flexible and willing to dive in and make changes when necessary. No paper-only designers, please.
- In the know on what the latest excellent ways are to interact with the world and what experiences blow people’s minds and you can’t wait to make more of them.
Requirements
- Unreal Engine 4 experience
- Work within a design team to conceptualize, document, and execute a fantastic game

- Be a great communicator of your design: Using whatever methods necessary to ensure that everyone gets it.
- Seek feedback and adjust as necessary, communicating along the way
- Be OK with some structure and process. Documentation doesn’t scare you, in fact, it makes you stronger.
- Play to your strengths and not be afraid to admit your weaknesses
- Mentor junior designers and direct their work as needed
