A visionary game development studio founded in 2012, Firesprite builds innovative showcase titles for PlayStation platforms as part of the PlayStation Studios family.
Would you enjoy the freedom to create AAA games working from anywhere in the UK, including our Liverpool studio?
We are looking for a Senior Designer to join the team on a ground-breaking next generation PvP shooter project with a Games as a Service focus. This is a AAA quality original IP, looking to bring unique mechanics and a visual style to the genre. You will be joining in the early stages of a multi-year development, playing a key role in helping shape an incredible new game experience.
Working with a cross-discipline team, you will often be the product owner for features and systems that fit perfectly into the game. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual looking for their next challenge, as the team is still at an early stage of production, giving you a chance to shape and create the core gameplay interactions and see the game through its entire journey from launch through the product’s evolution in service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Imagining and documenting features and mechanics that are intuitive to players and can be woven into a serviced game
- Taking these systems through ideation, documentation, prototype, and full production
- Working closely with the lead designer to deliver the game’s vision and promise
- Deconstructing other successful titles to gain and realise learnings in the fast-moving serviced games space
- Owning core game features and working with cross-discipline teams to deliver AAA quality
- Tuning these features, parameters, and interactions in Unreal 4, using Blueprints and data gained from play to ensure the best engagement and retention possible
- Accurately planning your work
- Assisting junior members of the design team
Requirements
- Ability to deliver high-quality work, with very little guidance from others
- Exceptional creativity and design skills
- Love of multiplayer shooters
- Energetic and positive attitude
- Obsessive about delivering the very best player experience
- Knowledge of what makes a great live service game tick
- Pro-active communication and the ability to manage upwards
- Strong knowledge of at least 1 industry-standard engine, ideally Unreal 4
- Working knowledge of Agile development
- Love of 3rd person shooter / action games
- Strong understanding of Free to Play Mechanics
- Significant professional game development experience with an impressive portfolio
