We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team! You will collaborate with the Growth & Monetization, Product, and Engineering teams to recommend, plan/manage and drive all data science projects under the direction of our Director of Data Science and Analytics. You will develop and investigate hypotheses, design experiments and build mathematical models. You will help with user acquisition performance and game optimization projects to increase playtime, player progression, retention, and lifetime values. We are looking for a sharp, disciplined, and highly quantitative individual who has a passion for mobile gaming, data mining, and mathematical modeling. We are building a unique technology platform dedicated to the operation and real-time optimization of free-to-play games.
Responsibilities:
- Build mathematical models and automated machine learning tools to analyze and optimize all aspects of Lion Studio games, providing actionable insights in real-time
- Understand the competitive marketplace, business issues, and data challenges to deliver actionable insights, recommendations, and business processes
- Design and implement experiments to test various hypotheses
- Work in a collaborative team environment with other highly skilled specialists in gaming, statistics, machine learning, and engineering
- Influence development teams to implement tools, features, and designs - success is measured in % monetizing, retention, time spent in the game, and lifetime value
- Research new modeling algorithms, languages, packages, and statistical tools to enhance the overall productivity of the team
- Lead and mentor members of the Data Science team to deliver high-impact AI/ML products
Basic Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant experience in quantitative analysis
- MS degree in a quantitative field
- Strong analytical, quantitative and creative problem-solving ability
- Solid understanding of research methods / statistical modeling / predictive analysis / machine learning / data mining / recommender system concepts
- Hands-on Experience with Deep Learning (RNN/CNN) and Reinforcement Learning Models
- Proficient with Python for model development
- Proficient with R, Python, or equivalent for data modeling and analysis
- Proficient with SQL
- Strong product sense, exceptional in project management, strong presentation and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and track multiple projects in parallel
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Snowflake, Apache Airflow, Amazon S3
- Experience with PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Open AI
- Experience independently creating and maintaining projects
- Product focused mindset
- Familiarity with data visualization through Looker, Tableau, or other BI tools
- Knowledge of unit testing
- AWS DevOps experience
- A passion for games (of any type) as well as a passion for code
- Knowledge of mobile gaming metrics and the mobile gaming industry
