Senior Data Scientist, Two Dots
Inspired by minimalist art, Dots was created with the notion that beauty and fun are not mutually exclusive. Now, as part of the Take-Two Interactive family and a successful studio, our goal is to provide the world with engaging and stylish daily play experiences. We need a Senior Data Scientist who can serve as an architect for Two Dots’ customer-centric data-driven initiatives to join our diverse, multi-talented team.
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to work with our Product and User Acquisition teams to build, launch, analyze, and iterate on personalized game features that help drive Two Dots to new heights. A big part of Two Dots’ success to date is insightful and innovative ways of using data. Our Data Science team uses game data to deliver fundamental insights into who our audience is and how they engage with our features and guide teams on the best ways to personalize players’ in-game experience. We strive to understand our players better, which translates into challenges and features that delight them.
Over the next few years, our Data Science team will grow and evolve to serve better the scale achieved by Two Dots over the past eight years. The ideal candidate for the Senior Data Scientist role has experience managing data efforts in a consumer-facing product. This candidate will have the opportunity to pitch and drive substantial changes in the product and organization, so an entrepreneurial spirit is appreciated. A solid understanding of popular data modeling tools and techniques and how they could apply to our business, along with the ability to ground their recommendations to the current state of the product, will help candidates for this role succeed.
This role requires strong technical skills across a broad spectrum, including proficiency in scripting languages such as SQL and Python, telemetry definition and data modeling, data aggregation and manipulation, customer analytics, business intelligence, data visualization, and data science techniques.
You will:
- Analyze the behavior of our players in the game, derive actionable insights, and translate those insights into models, experiments, game features, and player segments that positively impact our key metrics (LTV, retention, and others).
- Have the opportunity to run in-game, “live ops” experiments end-to-end — from conception and design to implementation and analysis.
- Work closely with stakeholders to make sound, data-driven decisions positively impacting our game features and user acquisition strategy.
- Act as a thought leader, suggesting opportunities and driving analytics value for Two Dots’ business strategically and operationally.
- Proactively bring forth new analytical approaches and data science solutions to our team. Collaborate with Data Engineering, Client Engineering, and Backend Engineering to drive key strategic initiatives to improve our data and analytics infrastructure.
- Be a champion of best practices when defining telemetry events, architecting data models, and defining data quality governance.
We are looking for:
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in data science or analytics roles; game industry experience is a bonus.
- Experience with exploring datasets independently and deriving actionable insights.
- Experience implementing statistical or machine learning modeling techniques in production to analyze data more rigorously than mere analytics (accounting for confounders, assessing statistical significance and effect size, causal analysis, etc.).
- Ability to prioritize “quick and dirty” models and analyses against more rigorous ones, where appropriate.
- Experience setting up, running, and analyzing experiments, incorporating best practices from statistics.
- Proficient in SQL; experience with modern data warehouses.
- Some experience with, or desire to learn, basic data engineering. (Although this is not a data engineering role our Data Engineering and Data Science teams work very closely together, so some basic knowledge is helpful).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with non-technical audiences.
- Good business and product intuition.
- Interested in learning new ideas, technologies, etc. and disseminating them to the rest of the team.
- Strong team player; open to giving and constructively receiving feedback.
- A passion for and knowledge of mobile games.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
What We Offer You:
- Great Company Culture: Collaborative design and working style. Strong sense of autonomy but a supportive atmosphere. Fun board game nights & team outings to celebrate successful projects. Weekly company-wide meetings to stay connected with other teams and enjoy some casual hangouts with wine and cheese every Thursday.
- Growth: As a global entertainment company, we pride ourselves on creating environments where employees are encouraged to be themselves, inquisitive, collaborative and to grow within and around the company.
- Benefits: Medical (HSA & FSA), dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan, commuter benefits, in-house wellness program, broad learning & development opportunities, a charitable giving platform with company match and more!
- Perks: Fitness allowance, employee discount programs, free games & events, stocked pantries and the ability to earn up to $500+ per year for taking care of yourself and more!
- Proven Track Record: Dots is an award-winning gaming company with three mobile hits—Dots, Two Dots, and Dots & Co—and over 100 million installs. We are newly proud members of the T2 family.
- While currently operating in a hybrid work environment, we expect to return to our stylish office, located in Manhattan in the historic Meatpacking District, once we can safely do so.
- We promote a friendly, honest, and collaborative work environment and believe we are at our best when we include everyone, regardless of one’s race, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical ability or attribute, and religious beliefs. We are proud of the diversity we’ve fostered and are continuing to make changes within the company to make Dots more equitable for everyone.
