What we do
Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 4. We bridge connections for licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as Epic’s own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login, parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps games utilize.
What you’ll do
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team and work with not only our own titles but a wide variety of games from around the world. You’ll collaborate daily with our anti-cheat development team in the ongoing race against cheats and developing algorithms to detect cheating using statistical methods and machine learning.
In this role, you will
- Help us mitigate cheating in the numerous Easy Anti-Cheat protected games from all game genres
- Develop and implement algorithms based on truly unique data sets to detect cheating in multiplayer online games
- Work together with both anti-cheat and backend teams to bring ideas from a prototype all the way to production
- Work closely with game developers both within Epic and externally
What we’re looking for
- Advanced statistical training and a thorough understanding of the associated strengths and weaknesses of different statistical analysis approaches
- Programming expertise in Python
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with predictive modeling and classification with both classical statistical methods and machine learning
- Experience in data reporting, visualization, and presentation skills
- Experience working with a variety of information systems and data files (structured and unstructured), including large and complex files
- Someone who is user-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
Nice to have skills
- Experience working with big data frameworks such as Spark or Flink
- Machine learning and model deploy methodologies
- TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Dask or similar frameworks
