Senior Data Engineer

Team Overview:
The Casual Studio Business Intelligence team is responsible for delivering insights through our internal dashboards and providing machine learning models for the games. The team is responsible for maintaining and supporting the data for existing games and new games. Team members comprise of other senior data developers, data analysts, data scientists and product managers.
Role Overview
- We’re looking for a talented and driven senior data engineer with a keen eye for data and business to help us build and scale our platform. Our ideal candidate is an independent, analytically-minded individual with strong data modeling and software engineering skills, who shares our passion for games. In this role, you’ll directly work with cross-functional teams(product, engineering, services) to design, develop, and deploy data solutions for our game studios.
Responsibilities
- Architect scalable data models and build efficient and reliable ETL pipelines.
- Design, build, and launch visualizations and self-serve analytics products that empower our internal customers with flexible insights.
- Build data expertise, and partner with data scientists and product engineers to define and standardize business rules and maintain high-fidelity data.
- Partner with other engineers in the development of new tools to enable our customers to understand and access data more efficiently.
- Build, optimize and maintain machine learning models for the game studios.
- Work cross-functionally (eg: product managers, engineers, business teams) to support new product and feature launches.
Qualifications
- Passion for games and a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology or related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer with data processing experience or in a similar role.
- 2+ years of experience in Python (preferably in 3.0+ data mining, machine learning, or statistical modeling experience.
- 3+ years of experience with SQL,including complex queries from multiple data sources(preferably MySQL, Snowflake, etc.).
- 1+ year of experience with JavaScript programming (Node.js, React.js, Angular.js etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including those to non-technical audiences for explanation of technical issues.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify errors or deficiencies and provide solutions to technical problems.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Familiarity and experience with big data technologies (eg: Hive, Spark, Presto).
- Knowledge of Apache Superset, including installation, configuration and modification.
- Able to work independently as well as be a strong team player.
- Possess willing-to-learn and can-do attitudes
- Ability to thrive while working on ambiguous or challenging projects.
- Comfortable with UNIX/Linux commands and Git commands
Nice To Have
- 1-3 years of programming experience in PHP.
- knowledge of Vertica.
- Experience in Flask or Django are highly preferred.
