Senior Data Developer, Ziva Services

The opportunity

Unity’s Emerging Technology team seeks a data engineer to help our customers change the face of computer graphics through innovative art and profound technological advancements. As part of our customer-driven character production team, you’ll create and curate datasets used to train powerful machine learning models for 3D geometry, graphics, and animation. In this dynamic role, you’ll code custom pipelines that link together our existing tools, troubleshoot the problems that inevitably crop up, and solve them to ensure that our team continues to work efficiently. Your work will enable our customers to push their 3D characters to state-of-the-art fidelity. You will be reporting to the Manager, Emerging Technology, Characters.

Our Characters team partners with VFX and AAA game studios to assist them as they adopt Ziva’s muscle simulation and facial animation tools into their pipelines, guide them as they seek to produce top-quality creatures and characters, and improve the toolchains ourselves in order to enhance our customers’ success and improve Ziva’s products for everyone.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, code, and maintain data pipelines for assembling large, high-quality datasets based on data specifications
• Write tools to analyze, visualize, and evaluate data from a wide variety of sources as it flows through the pipeline
• Analyzing and resolving glitches that arise during production.
• Writing clean, well-organized code and educating our customers on how to extend and maintain the modules you’ve written.
• Collaborate with engineers and artists with flexibility, efficiency, and empathy.

What we’re looking for

• Experience writing scripts to read, write, transform, analyze, and visualize multimedia data like images, video, audio, 3D geometry, etc.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines
• Understanding of technical fundamentals across 3D computer graphics, real-time animation, and machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python and ability to learn and integrate new Python packages
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

You might also have

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related fields
• Experience using Unity or real-time engines in areas related to rendering and graphics
• GPU programming experience
