Senior Concept Artist, Solutions

The Opportunity

At Unity we're building a world-class game development team to bring incredible games to life for our customers and showcase our technologies at their best!

As part of our successful Accelerate Solutions business, this exciting new team will bring together designers, artists and engineers in order to build full games for our customers across a variety of platforms.

We are looking for a talented Senior Concept Artist to help during the early incubation and prototyping stages. The role will then evolve to focus on the needs of production as the scale of development grows.

During the early stages of the project you’ll enjoy variety and be comfortable creating a range of concepts for a number of different game genres and artistic styles. You’ll use techniques like figure drawing, landscape painting, graphic design, and illustration to achieve this.

As we’re a new team you’ll also have the opportunity to help with wider art direction as well as growing the rest of our art team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the culture and future of a new game team.

The team will be based around our offices in Stratford-upon-Avon. Whilst we believe it’s essential for creative teams to come together periodically, our hybrid working policy will allow you to find the right balance between working from home and the office.

When we’re at the office you’ll find us in a set of converted farm buildings, surrounded by sheep and tractors, where the environment is informal, relaxed, and inclusive.

What you’ll be doing

• Work closely with a small creative team and produce a wide range of concept art during the incubation and prototyping phases.
• Support the design and engineering teams from a concept art perspective as they grow and the project moves into production.
• Help establish art production processes and assist with art direction.
• Help grow a larger art and technical art team over time.

What we’re looking for

• Ability to showcase, create and iterate on concept art.
• Knowledge of art fundamentals such as visual storytelling, colour theory, light/shadow, through form, less/greater than.
• Experience with creating clear concept call-out sheets.
• Proven ability to create character & prop sheets which can be used as reference by 3D artists.
• Expert proficiency with industry-standard visual art software (Photoshop, Procreate)

You might also have

• Experience of developing games or game prototypes in Unity.
• Experience hiring and building great art and technical art teams.
