As a Senior Concept Artist, you will work closely with the Lead Concept Artist and collaborate with Art Directors and the art and design staff to establish visual style and solutions that improve gameplay and support the narrative.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Build environment and prop designs for various production stages which may include loose sketches, high-level paintings, and gameplay paint-overs
- Turn around quick ideation sketches
- Build photo-realistic environment concepts using photo bashing as well as painting techniques
- Research subject matter and play the game to ensure an authentic and well-informed experience
- Ability to paint environments in a realistic style
- A solid foundation in traditional art, color theory, and composition with a deep understanding of perspective and realistic lighting is important
- Character design experience and understanding of anatomy are a plus
- Expertise in Photoshop or equivalent painting software with knowledge of 3d applications like Maya, and Zbrush a plus
- Self-motivated and contribute your own ideas
- Ability to take direction and feedback from the team and work collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving
- Dedication to advancing your craft and eager to learn new techniques and software
- Understand the concept art pipeline from the conceptualization stage to the final rendered image
- 3+ years of experience crafting high-quality 2D art, and concepts, with at least 1 shipped AAA PC or console title
- Understand the limitations of the game development pipeline
