Senior Concept Artist - (Hybrid)

As our team and portfolio of titles continue to grow, we are on the search for a Concept Artist, reporting to the Principal Concept Artist. The Shared Services Team works across the multiple nDreams studios on a variety of new and innovative projects, giving you the opportunity to showcase a broad range of creativity.
You would be responsible for designing and creating high quality 2D artworks and illustration with a focus on conceptual art. The role requires strong core artistic capabilities and accompanying communicative skills to discuss, critique and iterate on a wide and varied spread of creative content.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the art direction to deliver a cohesive aesthetic for any given project.
- Assist in the Art Direction process with effective research, mood-boards, and storyboarding.
- Use verbal and visual communication to discuss work with stakeholders.
- Balance time against quality and art techniques to deliver work on brief and on time.
- Maintain oversight of a task beyond handoff to ensure that the asset stays true to the concept and project aesthetics.
- Deliver inspirational artwork that fits the brief and communicates ideas effectively and with clarity.
- Engage and deliver high quality art across a broad range of duties.
- Demonstrate versatility to work with the various art styles of our games and pitches.
- Use concept art to suggest visual solutions to facilitate smooth production pipelines.
- Work with the Pitching & Marketing departments to produce documentation, promotional materials etc.
- Demonstrate awareness of good graphic design practice, particularly in layout, typography and colour theory.
- Constructively critique the work of others and seek out opportunities to mentor others in artistic skills, software and course correction where necessary to improve the overall quality of studio output.
Desired experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in complimentary industries.
- Good working knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite and complimentary software.
- Accustomed to using specific hardware to the position – Wacom/Cintiq and VR Hardware.
- Reasonable understanding of Unreal or other game engines.
- Graphic Design affinity for layout, composition, colour theory, typography etc.
- Strong artistic skills, including draughtsmanship, composition, light and colour, anatomy.
- Employ clear design process from reference, conception, exploration, concept development, to final style, finish and execution.
- Demonstrate versatility with traditional and digital 2D techniques, showing an aptitude to tackle a wide spread of subject matters, finishes and forms – from stylized to realistic.
- Ability to draw on experience to quickly explores ideas, shapes and forms.
- Attentive to detail, creating visual solutions to design and wider developmental questions.
- Experience working within a team environment, critiquing work constructively and reacting positively to feedback.
- Keen interest and understanding of the Digital Games Entertainment Software industry, and how concept development plays a role.
