Senior Concept Artist [Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora] (f/m/d)

Job Description

As part of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you will play an instrumental role in bringing to life the beautiful and dangerous world of Pandora. This is an opportunity for you to keep growing your experience in games while working hand in hand with Disney’s creative minds and James Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment.

As our new Senior Concept Artist (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will be responsible for creating terrific concepts and illustrations to define the look, mood and the style of environments, characters and other assets of our game worlds. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Art Department, Designers, Programmers and Producers.

What you will do:

• Conceptualize, design, and create 2D and 3D artworks, mood paintings and detailed production concepts for game development
• Create environment mood paintings and illustrations as well as detailed production concepts
• Ensure that all concepts are suitable for the production needs of the other departments
• Close collaboration with the Art Director to work within the visual style of the game
• Close cooperation with other Ubisoft teams all around the world
• Provide support and advice for other artists in the team

Qualifications

What you bring:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Concept Artist in game development
• Exceptional knowledge of next gen asset creation workflows with the ability to modify and improve them
• Very strong skills in Photoshop with an emphasis on realistic rendering techniques
• A keen eye for composition, color, lighting, and mood
• Deep knowledge in human anatomy, architecture, modern tech design and visualizing nature and landscapes
• Being able to closely adapt a specific art style
• A good technical understanding of game engine workflows (Unreal, Unity etc.)
• Being used to work on tasks autonomously and to deliver results in time
• Be forward thinking with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative
• Fluent in English, both verbally and written

* Good modeling and digital sculpting skills are highly recommended (Maya, 3DSMax, Blender, Zbrush, Mudbox) as is being familiar with a 3D concept workflow is a plus
* Knowledge of Substance Designer/Painter knowledge is a plus

Portfolio:
