At EA, Game Designers are responsible for crafting the product. They are the individuals who take initial ideas and find the fun in experiences that surprise and delight millions of gamers around the world. Our Senior Game Designers actualize the vision in features and gameplay by partnering with other designers, product owners, development directors, engineers, animators, and artists to create a great game.
As a Senior Gameplay Designer, you will use your understanding and passion for designing player first experiences to add to the creative execution and business success of the game team.
You will report to the Senior Creative Director, and will be involved at all stages from concepting, design documentation, supporting the team through execution, and tuning the features to make for a great game experience.
Your Responsibilities
- Work with design and product owner leadership to help form the direction for gameplay and ensuring that designs follow the product vision.
- Design complex gameplay systems and tune them for specific goals.
- Inspire and motivate the team to achieve high-quality results within constraints.
- Take a holistic approach to quality and delivery to ensure that the feature set and corresponding execution creates the best possible product.
- Identify problems and opportunities and ideate to identify interesting solutions.
- Preparing and analyzing research to understand market trends, player sentiments; and using that data to form a creative vision aligned with business objectives.
- Create gameplay designs that target specific product metrics and gamer motivations.
- Ability to tune/balance existing gameplay and prioritize new gameplay content in the live service based on player sentiment and product strategies.
Your Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Designer working in medium/large teams within the video game industry, creating high quality games.
- Experience of mentoring other designers and providing insightful feedback on design efforts.
- Experience of console/ AAA game development.
- Proactive and able to own design areas from initial creation through to implementation.
- Understand how to design player experiences that support the strategic business objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $107,600 - $147,100 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
