Activision Blizzard Esports (ABE) serves as the operational foundation and partnership hub for the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League. ABE is uniquely positioned to create long-term value via the commercialization of the esports portfolio through brand partnership and media rights sales. Overwatch League and Call of Duty League are seeing phenomenal success in signing world-class teams, and launching compelling programming to a diverse international audience and quickly became the most commercially successful esports programs in history.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you are part of ABE’s Strategy & Analytics team, and will drive the team’s effort in identifying, understanding, and surfacing a myriad of first and third-party data to empower our decision making as it relates to our esports fan experience, our global viewership, and our franchise teams. We are looking for an analytical and intellectually curious individual who can help ABE push the boundaries of data-informed decision making for the esports business and industry at large.

Responsibilities

• Partner with analysts and engineers to own data analytic initiatives
• Perform analysis and valuation (return on investment, CBA) for strategic initiatives.
• Create important data visualizations for ABE Leadership.
• Use query and programming languages to develop data pipelines
• Leverage tools such as Google Data Studio to deliver insights and visibility to key business metrics
• Utilize APIs to pull and integration viewership data into our tech stacks
• Participate in and contribute to a culture of inclusion and diversity

Requirements

• Passion for data analytics and business insights
• Strong, proven skills with SQL (or SQL like environment) and Python
• Comfortable working in ambiguous areas where learning and adaptability are key skills
• Experience designing, maintaining, and enhancing dashboards using data visualization tools such as Tableau
• Experience pull data from external APIs and integrating those pulls into analytics workflow
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Gaming, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Business Intelligence

Pluses

• A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or other quantitative field
• Experience working in a multi-terabyte data volume environment
• Experience with some or all of the following: data modeling, data visualization, statistics
• Familiar with agile project management tools such as Jira
