As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Avatar Marketplace team, you will lead engineering efforts in building an international marketplace for millions of virtual items that users purchase to customize their avatars and identities on Roblox platform.
The team is responsible for scalable consumer facing building systems that help content creators to provide more content and become more successful sellers.
With over 30 million daily active users(And Growing), we are looking for an experienced engineer that's passionate about designing and building scalable systems for both sides of the marketplace.
You Are:
- Experienced in designing and building backend system behind consumer-facing API that can handle large number of concurrent users
- Dealing with scalability and reliability issues associated with different system architectures including micro-service architecture
- Breaking down product requirements into iterative deliverable stages
- A expert in SQL database-based application with in-depth knowledge of query optimization and scalability concerns
- A experienced backend engineer with 4+ years of work experience
- A Computer-Science graduate or MS graduate
- Driven, Creative, and a Problem Solver
You Will:
- Focus on developing consumer facing backend systems for Avatar Marketplace Shop (roblox.com/catalogue)
- Create new features from scratch that contribute towards company revenue and impact millions of users globally
- Help the company align with the long-term vision to lower the bar for entry into content creation
- Support our Avatar Marketplace in production, sharing the on-call rotation with your team colleagues
- Solve relational DB scalability issues with in-depth understanding of DB operation, transaction and query optimization
- Write high-quality, performant code, as well as refactor and improve our existing codebase
- Improve system reliability, performance, and test coverage
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$218,540 — $283,780 USD
