The BioWare audio team is seeking an experienced Audio Artist/Sound Designer who can make an immediate contribution to the core creative aspects of audio development within the team. The successful candidate must be able to provide premium audio content that advances the needs of the next Dragon Age project. This role will focus on cinematic storytelling through missions, scenes, and gameplay and will carry the opportunity for them to make a major impact on the title’s overall experience. This individual should naturally have a proven history of exceptional audio design, a proficiency in game audio implementations, and have the ability to mentor junior staff in pursuit of the game and audio vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with audio and creative leadership to execute on the audio vision for the title.
- Developing content palettes and treatments to inform direction and feel.
- Providing best-in-class sound design for complex cinematic elements.
- Working with outsourcing partners in assistance to the creative audio supervisor.
- Enforcing and defining audio best practices while driving mentorship and support of other team members.
- Seeking feedback for their work and acting upon that with a focus on audio execution and quality.
- Working closely with partners in other departments to collaborate with, while championing the audio vision and development practices.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of game audio experience in a senior-level role.
- Outstanding sound design and listening skills.
- Experience in sourcing, creating and implementing quality sound assets in a AAA title.
- Developed ability to interpret feedback and following direction for asset creation.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral with the ability to be self-reliant and organized.
- Experience with modern audio creation equipment, software, recording techniques, and asset management with a high level of proficiency in at least one DAW (Digital Audio Workspace).
- Strong understanding of audio concepts and industry standards.
- Solid experience using game audio development tools, technology and pipelines with a technical aptitude and understanding of logic-based implementation systems.
