Senior Artist

Hothead Games is mobile game development studio focused on free-to-play for iOS and Android devices.

Hothead Games is looking for a rock star Senior Artist who is ready to help create the next round of world-class mobile games. You will be an integral part of one of our passionate teams tasked with creating new and exciting worlds, characters, and user interfaces. As a creative force on a small team, you thrive as a self-starter, love the dynamics of fast agile development and possess exceptional conceptual skills and vision. If you are a well-rounded artist with strong 2D and 3D skills, then you are the candidate for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Research different art styles suitable to our game’s genre and provide exploratory conceptual illustrations
• Create game and marketing assets in both 2D and 3D capacity
• Contribute ideas toward overall visual development; brings a diverse artistic range to the table
• Strong grasp of interface design and its visual connection to the overall theme
• Collaborate with team members to evolve or improve the processes of creating and integrating art
• Provide appropriate feedback to improve the creative process and seek feedback from peers
• Be a positive and creative force on the team
• Ability to create and oversee creatives for marketing materials

Requirements:

• 5+ years of industry experience with mobile development preferred
• Please submit a portfolio of your work showcasing a wide breadth of styles
• Technical knowledge of 3D art asset implementation
• Thorough knowledge and proficiency with Maya
• Thorough knowledge of 2D art creation/manipulation packages, including but not limited to Photoshop
• Experience in lighting treatments for environments
• Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Art or related

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Quixel and/or Substance
• Experience with Unity

This full-time permanent position is for our Vancouver office, located at 1555 West Pender Street, in beautiful Coal Harbour.
