Senior Art Director
Firaxis Games is searching for an expert Art Director to own the visual design of one of our AAA game projects. The ideal candidate is organized and self-motivated. They value teamwork and collaboration and know how to encourage confidence and excellence in others. They must have a strong aesthetic vision as well as the ability to articulate it, share it, and incorporate the ideas and strengths of others into it. They must demonstrate the ability to delegate and trust others while maintaining a strong sense of personal accountability to the team, the project, and the company.
Responsibilities:
- Own, articulate, and evangelize visual direction of a project.
- Direct multiple art teams to achieve incredible results.
- Lead, encourage, and mentor artists and art leads.
- Continually evaluate, critique, and communicate the visual state of the game.
- Advocate for and encourage standard processes and efficiencies in art production while achieving or exceeding the quality bar established for the project.
- Approve concept paintings, models, textures, and other benchmark assets to set the standards for others.
- Work closely with game design to ensure art supports a gameplay-first player experience.
- Work closely with lead artists and production to define art scope and schedule.
- Foster and maintain effective relationships with other teams (production, engineering, design, audio, and QA).
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the games industry as an art director with at least two titles shipped as Art Director.
- Additional game industry experience in artist or lead roles that demonstrate broad knowledge of game development pipelines and practices.
- A Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent educational or work experience.
- Strong leadership skills and experience with a track record of empowering other people.
- Experience working on digital role-playing game products is a major plus.
- Experience working on third-person games is a plus.
- Experience working with external IP partners is a plus
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must possess current US work authorization.
