Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, the largest VR developer in the world and part of the Embracer Group, the largest group of developers in the world. As our Rotterdam Studio kicks off development on our new AAA VR projects, we are looking to recruit an expressive and experienced animator who can aid us in our mission!
As a animator you are responsible for setting the bar for character and creature animation on cutting-edge VR platforms. Using Unity, you will be responsible for breathing life and believability into our interactive worlds; from objects, props, and environmental flourishes, all the way through to a wide variety of humans, quadrupeds, and everything in-between!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create convincing creature, character and object animations.
- Work together with the game designers to implement the animations into the game engine.
- Share knowledge and inspire animators within the team and act as representative of the animators direction.
- Mentor less experienced animators to improve their animations and artistic output.
Your profile
- 5+ years of professional experience with an agile game development team
- Worked on and shipped at least 2 game title ( preferably AAA )
- Excellent understanding of human and animal body mechanics
- Able to work with both hand keyed and motion captured animations
- Experience with facial animation and cinematic pipelines
- An eye for core animation principles (e.g. timing, weight, storytelling)
- Modeling & texturing knowledge to advice 3D modelers on e.g. deformations
- Experience with Maya, Motion builder and Unity
- Ability to guide and mentor other animators
- Experience with rigging and skinning
- You are organized and forward thinking
- You are eager to work on-site
Bonus points for
- Affinity and experience with VR games
- Experienced with tracking software (Jira)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python and MEL)
- Experience with mo-cap sessions
