Senior Animator - Near Light (Hybrid)

We are looking for a Senior Animator to help bring our unannounced next-gen VR game to life at Near Light. If you see the potential in VR and want to collaborate with a talented team to explore, create, and deliver innovative software, we want to hear from you!

Our studio’s goal is to create trail-blazing, fresh and exciting immersive entertainment, bringing together the best of every discipline to converge on truly innovative games and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating high quality, hand-keyed animation, as well as working with motion capture data from its conception to gameplay implementation.
• Assisting the team of animators to deliver a cohesive and considered animation aesthetic.
• Assisting the production team in predicting and estimating animation schedules.
• Effectively communicating and illustrating animation intentions to the principal animator.
• Prioritising work, identifying and managing risk, organising the workload of both yourself and those in your projects team.
• Mentoring good animation practices with the animators and junior animators.

Requirements

Essential capabilities:

• At least 3 years’ experience in industry and a Degree or equivalent qualification within a relevant discipline.
• Real-time engine experience, ideally in Unreal.
• Exceptional skills within Maya for creating animations.
• Creating animations in Sequencer.
• Excellent ability of hand-keyed animation as well as working knowledge within a Motion Capture pipeline.
• Show a very strong working knowledge of 3D animation with a fundamental understanding of timing, weight and spacing.

• A self-driven motivational quality, working creatively whilst implementing requests from design, art and code to achieve the desired end vision.
• Have experience with motion planning and the creation of locomotion animation sets.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own work schedule.
• Able to articulate and receive constructive feedback.

Desired experience:

• Several published products within the Console, PC, VR or Mobile space.

• Sequencer knowledge of blueprints and setting up state machines
