We seek an Android engineer to help drive forward the future of mobile app development using Kotlin Multiplatform. We're working to craft social experiences at Fortnite scale, and want to make sure our tools and architecture can help us build even more ambitious and quality features and apps. The team has been working on unique social networks, from Fortnite’s PartyHub experience to Houseparty’s Group Video Chat.
As a mobile engineer at Epic Games, you'll leverage your deep understanding of mobile development to solve complex technical challenges. Kotlin Multiplatform is still a new and growing technology so you'll need to ready to experiment and innovate to find the best ways to leverage this technology across our mobile and web experiences as well as have strong communication skills to share your discoveries with others. Your decisions will guide how you and your teammates will build features that push the future of social gaming.
Responsibilities:
- Discover and refine best practices with new technologies such as Kotlin Multiplatform
- Actively seek elegant, production-oriented solutions to difficult problems Collaborate with other mobile developers, producers, QA and data analysts, and other stakeholders Independently drive projects of significant scope Build product features with the end-user in mind Mentor and grow the collective skills of our Engineering team
Qualifications:
- 7+ years developing production-quality mobile applications
- Experience with writing idiomatic Kotlin, even better if using coroutines!
- Strong understanding of Android studio and associated tools: Profiling, debugging ,etc Experience working with large, diverse technical systems Excellent communication skills Ability to learn quickly and deal with ambiguity
Nice to have:
- Experience with reactive patterns such as RxJava, Kotlin Flow, Combine, etc
- Previous experience with Kotlin Multiplatform or other cross platform tools
- Experience with iOS/Swift
- Experience with Typescript, React, and other modern web toolchains
- Has worked on and shipped an Android library
- Strong understanding of Gradle
