Senior Analyst - BioWare Game Analytics

We are hiring a Senior Analyst at our Edmonton studio to partner closely with the Dragon Age Development Team as part of EA Global Analytics & Insights (GAI). The role reports to the Analytics Manager on the studio Games Analytics team. In this role, you will be an essential partner on our developing titles by providing approachable analysis with relevant takeaways for the team.

What a Sr. Analyst does at EA:

Our team strives to be the voice of the player by providing insights from a rich landscape of gameplay data. For each release, you will partner with designers, product managers, and engineers to establish the data we need from the game to understand how our players engage with its features and systems. To set yourself and the development team up for success, you'll work with our team to develop dashboards and visualizations which provide a monitor for important game features and business health. These tools encourage a data-driven culture within the studio and provide the means for you to quickly assess opportunities where you can make the most impact with deeper ad-hoc analysis. Examples of project work we do include player segmentation, retention modeling, path analysis, and A/B testing.

You will get to share your findings directly with the development teams, ranging from 1:1 chats up to studio-wide presentations. Many different disciplines will rely on you as a trusted source of information, including Product Management, Game Design, Engineering, Studio Executives, Brand Management, Marketing, and Finance. As part of working with a diverse group of partners, you will gain exposure to different perspectives inside the gaming industry.

In addition to working with our studio partners at BioWare, you will have opportunities to collaborate and share with other data aficionados in the larger Global Analytics & Insights organization (GAI) at EA. The next great EA Sr. Analyst has:

• 3+ years of experience applying quantitative methods to understand and solve challenging problems
• Experience building clear, user-friendly data visualizations, tables, and dashboards
• SQL proficiency and ability to extract data from large data sources with differing structures
• Proficiency with a statistical analysis tool (such as R, Python, or base SAS) to perform analysis
• Familiarity with version control and reproducible research best practices
• Capable self-management and experience with modern work tracking tools
• Passion for playing and thinking critically about games and a “player first” mindset is a plus!
