Senior Accountant, Royalty & Revenue Accounting

SUMMARY:
Take-Two is an innovative, creative growth-oriented video game company in search of a candidate to join our Royalty and Revenue Accounting team. We are looking for a bright, articulate, savvy and results oriented accountant to be a business partner with our Labels and work closely with various departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will have exceptional Excel skills and be eager to dive into the data and learn the business from the ground up.
As a key member of the Royalty and Revenue Accounting Team, the Senior Accountant analyzes royalty contracts, records monthly royalty accruals and prepares royalty statements in accordance with the contract. This role will support the Royalty Accounting team with the month-end close utilizing a combination of complex spreadsheets and Alliant to prepare the royalty accruals. As Alliant is one of our newer systems, you will also assist in the finalization of the implementation and streamlining the process now that the system is live. The Senior Accountant also supports the Revenue Accounting Team as needed to record revenue in accordance with both ASC 606 and our internal Management reporting standards. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Revenue and Royalty Accounting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare complex Third-Party royalty statements on a timely basis; analyze statements against monthly accruals to ensure reasonableness and investigate/explain variances.
- Create and maintain appropriate set up of royalty contract is Alliant in accordance with third-party contract.
- Ensure contractual compliance for third-party royalty and licensing agreements related to the Company’s royalty reporting, royalty payments, and scheduled advances and/or guarantees and rights periods; document and ensure compliance on a timely basis with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Participate in royalty audits and coordinate with legal, sales and any department in which the auditors have a question.
- Respond to inquiries from third-party licensors and developers on royalty reports and provide additional information.
- Work with our internal labels and accounts payable to code and process all milestone payments on a timely basis.
- Prepare monthly royalty cash forecast to be provided to our Treasury department.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key Label Finance, Development and IT personnel.
- Analyze large data sets from multiple systems and applications in support of our key accounting treatments for revenue recognition and royalty accounting.
- Complete review of large amounts of data for accuracy
- Reconciliation of data between systems
- Perform month-end close activities including preparing journal entries, reconciliations and analyses for global revenue on both a US GAAP and Management reporting basis.
- Develop full understanding of existing and new Distribution, Licensing, Publisher and Development Agreements in order to determine appropriate royalty calculations.
- Provide support to the Senior Manager of Revenue and Royalty Accounting to resolve US GAAP Roylaty and Revenue accounting issues as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, proactively question existing procedures, and work with the team to implement change to gain efficiencies and streamline workflows.
- Maintain compliance and evidence of compliance with SOX controls and policies. Ability to clearly document key revenue accounting processes and develop related process flows, if necessary.
- Work with external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audit requests, including performing process walkthroughs and providing requested documents in a timely manner.
- Perform various ad hoc analyses and projects as directed by the Senior Manager of Revenue and Royalty Accounting.
- Other responsibilities include but are not limited to special projects, system implementations and enhancements, and assisting other Finance teams as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years public and/or private accounting experience required.
- Experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly in order to respond to multiple requests and changing priorities.
- Ability to adapt to change in processes and growth in business.
- High level of enthusiasm and capacity to overcome obstacles.
- Team player with good coaching skills.
- Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word) skills.
- Experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion Financial Management (“HFM”), and/or Alliant/RevStream a plus.
