Senior AI Gameplay Animator

Playground Games is looking for a Senior AI Animator to join our talented Fable team here in Leamington Spa on a Permanent Basis.

As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun. We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.

About the role:

As a Senior AI Animator at Playground, first and foremost you are passionate about building player immersion by creating the most engaging and believable NPC animations. As a Senior you must be able to direct yourself, take ownership of large bodies of work and oversee complex challenges. As such we are looking for someone with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Your expertise in the creation of animation will cover a broad range of key areas, including motion capture and keyframe, and your developed eye will aid in the breakdown and design of animation focused mechanics. You’re required to be a creative animator and a problem solver, with good knowledge of the technical aspects of your craft.

Our ideal candidate is an expert animator who is passionate about their craft, skilled in the creation of believable and engaging populations, and has the track record to prove it.

This is a permanent role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa.

What you’ll do:

• Create and iterate on high-quality key-frame and mocap animation assets, seeing them through to being implemented in-game.
• Direct talent in mocap shoots staying mindful of technical limitations.
• Proactively communicate and collaborate, both within animation and other departments.
• Help with the mentorship and growth of the team.

What you’ll bring:

• At least one shipped AAA title.
• 5+ Years of Games Industry experience
• Exceptional keyframe animation skills demonstrable in a reel that showcases your work with gameplay animation systems.
• Passion for game dev, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
