Senior AI Engineer

Hardsuit Labs is looking for an experienced engineer to join the studio as a Senior AI Engineer. The person in this role will be responsible for defining the tools, framework, and coding standards used in the studio. The person in this role will also mentor and motivate junior members of the AI engineering team, helping to guide the day-to-day tasks and careers of the group. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all positions at Hardsuit Labs are subject to remote interviews and work.
You
You are a collaborative senior engineer with an eye for detail, a passion for gameplay, and a knack for defining, and building out AI behaviors. You have deep knowledge of multiple AI codebases and are fluent in C++. Excellent overall verbal and written communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and debugging skills are a must. Flexibility and adaptability are necessary, too as you’ll work directly with creative leadership to identify and build workflows and pipelines to execute on the artistic vision of the game.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 6 years of game development experience.
- Excellent understanding of C++
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and/or maintained full featured AI systems.
- In depth knowledge and demonstrable experience with all basic behavior architectures including path finding, path building, LOS, state machines, sensory systems, group behavior, and behavior trees.
- Expertise with memory management best practices and cross-platform development.
- Experience working on at least one high profile or AAA game title.
Preferred Qualifications
- Shipped (pre-production to release) 2-3+ large scale, 3D titles (PC, current/next gen console).
- High proficiency with Unreal Engine 4 (UE4).
- Good knowledge of 3D math as it applies to game programming.
- Willingness to mentor and grow junior team members.
- Experience in multiple game engines.
- Experience with multiple AI systems/architectures.
- Experience developing single player/RPG titles.
