Job Description
The Molasses Flood is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to help us innovate and evolve our technologies. The Senior AI Programmer will be responsible for driving and implementing AI behaviors, as well as developing the core AI framework. The systems you build will provide clear interfaces and a powerful framework for the artists and designers - with the ultimate goal of a great player experience.
This is a full-time salaried position, reporting to the Lead Gameplay Programmer. This job could be performed either working a hybrid model out of our office in the greater Boston area, or remote within the contiguous US states. Relocation assistance is available for moving to Boston area. All staff works on a schedule aligned to US eastern time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, build out, maintain and optimize our foundational AI systems, to be used on our upcoming game and many more after that.
- Design, build out and maintain a suite of authoring tools and pipelines, which allow designers and artists to build great content on top of the aforementioned systems.
- Follow the code quality standards set by the technical director.
- Collaborate with everyone on the team and across disciplines in achieving the overall vision of the game.
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from team members regarding existing systems.
Qualifications
- 5 + years of experience in game development, with strong AI focus
- Commercial experience shipping a console game
- Unreal 4/5 experience preferred
- Competence with C++ or a similar language
- Working knowledge of 3d mathematics
- Experience working on navigation, behavior trees, NPC and AI performance optimizations
- Communication skills: the ability to express yourself clearly both verbally and in written documentation
- Curiosity, kindness, and a positive and professional can-do attitude
- Candidates must have a US work permit or citizenship
